Why are you called CBA Recording?
All recordings are edited and polished by myself, and my initials are CBA. Plus that's ABC backwards. There are several engineers who may record you through CBA Recording, but ALL tracks are worked on by yours truly
before they get a stamp of approval.
What type of music do you record?
Rock, classical, jazz, flamenco, throat-singing.
You name it, and we've probably done it. You'll see samples as you look around
the site.
How much does it cost to record a concert?
It varies, of course, but if you are a professional or community performance ensemble looking to record a show, most can be recorded and turned into an enjoyable CD for $400. If you have a long concert season, it's best to book all the shows at the beginning of the year via contract. This ensures the equipment best suited for your group and performance space will be available when you need it. Booking several concerts also allows me to work in tandem with the artistic director to find your ideal sound.
Can you help our group fundraise?
DEFINITELY. In fact, if you are a school group, CBA Recording can help you use recordings to fundraise without any initial investment or overhead. Really? Of course – send an email to find out more.
Using recordings to fundraise is
an excellent idea. Unlike cheesecakes, which are here today, gone tomorrow, a
quality album helps to promote and repromote your ensemble every time it is
played. A professional album lends an air of professionalism to your
organization and demonstrates how serious you are about your music. Not only do
you receive funds from album sales, you are more likely to experience continued
interest and additional donations.
Someone else recorded our show. Can you fix it?
Sometimes. If you provide the raw tracks from your show, I can definitely create a new mix. However, if the audio
was distorted in the initial audio capture, there is very little that can be done.
There is a mistake in the performance. Can you fix it?
Sometimes. If you are planning to release a "live" CD, but are worried about potential mistakes,
it's a good idea to schedule a dedicated recording session of the concert material. The session
may sometimes double as a rehearsal or it may simply be to capture the most difficult pieces.
If you are performing a concert multiple times, schedule a recording of each show so you have material to combine to create the ideal "live" album!
Can you make a video of our concert?
Yes, we've been involved in full-length concert DVD documentaries, as well as smaller productions for auditions, promotions, and keepsakes.
Can you take photos at our concert?
Yes, but your recording is the TOP priority.
Do you provide equipment rentals?
Our rigs are in use much of the time, but we sometimes rent our equipment when it is available. If you have a project that you are interested in doing some recording on your own for, feel free to get in touch with us to see if we can help you out. If you wanted to record vocal tracks for instance, we could provide you with a great mic and a killer pre to you could record in your own home at your convenience.
Do you have a PA system?
Yes, we maintain a PA system which is gear for work for a cappella groups. We're traveling around with mics and speakers preaching the gospel of good sound. Just say NO! to rock and rollers who are trying to fit your group into a mold.
Where's my question?
Can’t find it on the list? Send it to me!
Thanks for looking.
